A perennial, great in the middle of the border, to fill gaps and perfect to grow amongst wildflowers.

Knautia macedonica will attract bees and butterflies with its nectar and pollen-rich flowers and has seeds for birds.

Quantity
  • Grow Knautia macedonica in moist but well-drained, slightly alkaline soil in full sun.
    Best grown in poorer soils: chalk, clay, heavy, light, sandy.
    If possible add well rotted compost before planting.
    May need staking if it sprawls.
    Keep watered, especially during dry periods.

    Cut the plant down to the ground in the autumn and apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost.
