A hardy, summer-flowering pincushion scabious, producing crimson flowers on long, branching stems.
A perennial, great in the middle of the border, to fill gaps and perfect to grow amongst wildflowers.
Knautia macedonica will attract bees and butterflies with its nectar and pollen-rich flowers and has seeds for birds.

Grow Knautia macedonica in moist but well-drained, slightly alkaline soil in full sun.
Best grown in poorer soils: chalk, clay, heavy, light, sandy.
If possible add well rotted compost before planting.
May need staking if it sprawls.
Keep watered, especially during dry periods.Cut the plant down to the ground in the autumn and apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost.
